There’s a movie adaptation of Finnegans Wake! I’ve only watched parts of it but it’s definitely pretty cool. The scene of “the fall” around the three minute mark is especially interesting. I can just be happy knowing the fact that this was even made. As for my own journey through reading The Wake, it goes slowly but surely. It’s an incredible read, but there just isn’t any way to speed through it. Secondary sources are pretty much a must unless you’re Joyce himself.

I’d love to see somebody tackle adapting the “Circe” episode of Ulysses for the stage or screen. I think it could be a really cool play, but maybe impossible to actually pull off. Speaking of Joyce plays, I need to read Exiles. It’s the only work of his that I haven’t even looked at and since it’s a play I could probably get through it a little more quickly, at least compared to The Wake. Man, I don’t know when I’ll ever get around to finishing that book. I was going to set a goal of finishing it up before school begins (in less than a month) but that would be near suicide, plus would probably completely hamper my enjoyment of it. I think I’m just going to read a few pages at a time whenver I feel the urge. It could take a year or more to finish that way, but whatever. That actually seems like the right thing to do. My mind seems to get cloudy whenver I read for too long. When I read in small bits it’s easier to pick up the poetry of tiny sections. Good stuff, my friends.
